Early Life and Family Background Sunita was born on 9 August 2002 in Barwa Parsauni village, Manatand Block, West Champaran district of Bihar, India. She is the daughter of Umesh Ram and Kanti Devi. Sunita has two brothers, Anil and Subodh. Her father is a farmer, and her life has been filled with challenges from an early age. Due to difficult family circumstances, the primary responsibility of supporting the household rested largely on her mother. Despite these hardships, Sunita grew up with strong values, determination, and resilience.
Educational Background
Sunita completed her primary education at a government school in her native village, Barwa Parsauni. She pursued her Matriculation and Intermediate education from Lakshminarayan Higher Secondary School, Pirari. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Hindi from M.J.K. College, Bettiah, affiliated with Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. Alongside her academic journey, Sunita consistently continued her training and participation in sports.
For her higher professional education, she completed her Teacher Training (B.Ed.) from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, demonstrating her commitment to both education and personal development.
Coach and Training
Sunita received her formal martial arts training under the expert guidance of Mr. Jai Prakash Bharti of Chanpatia, West Champaran. His disciplined training methodology, constant encouragement, and technical expertise played a vital role in shaping Sunita’s competitive career. Mr. Bharti has significantly contributed to the development of martial arts in the region and has successfully trained hundreds of athletes who have represented West Champaran at state and national levels.
In addition, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, a State-level Motivator, has been a strong source of inspiration in Sunita’s current life and career. His motivational guidance, strategic direction, and support have helped Sunita maintain focus, discipline, and proper management in the martial art field, contributing significantly to her continued success and balanced professional growth.
Contribution to Tamo Martial Art
Sunita has made a remarkable contribution to Tamo Martial Art. She has participated in five State-level championships, winning three Gold medals and two Silver medals. At the National level, she has competed three times, securing two Gold medals and one Bronze medal.
She strongly believes in the philosophy, “If Bihar plays, Bihar will win,” and firmly states that when daughters participate in sports, they elevate the game to greater heights. According to Sunita, girls possess immense courage and a deep desire to contribute positively to society.
Even today, Sunita voluntarily teaches martial arts free of cost to girls in government schools, empowering them with self-defense skills and helping them move forward with confidence and independence.
Sunita’s Journey and Aspirations
From childhood, Sunita dreamed of becoming a police officer, wearing the uniform with pride and serving both her state and the nation. In pursuit of this dream, she prepared for government service examinations and appeared for the Bihar Police recruitment process in 2025, where she cleared the written examination but was disqualified due to height criteria.
Undeterred, she dedicated herself to rigorous yoga and running practice. After a year of intense training, she successfully cleared the physical fitness test in the subsequent Bihar Police recruitment drive. Refusing to limit her dreams, she continued her preparation for better opportunities, completed her teacher training, and remains actively engaged in preparing for government service.
Other Interests
Apart from sports, Sunita has a deep interest in dance. She finds joy and self-expression through dancing and considers it an important part of her personal life.
